Ask your questions or share your opinions about travelling to St.Petersburg (Russia).

Q: I will be on a cruise ship. Do I need to get a visa to tour with you?

A: Yes, you will need a visa.

According to the information given by local Russian consulates and ship authorities, no one gets off the ship without a visa or a ship contracted tour. So, it is up to you to decide. Unfortunately, none of the options is ideal.

The simplest option is to buy a ship tour (which is not even a ship tour, it is a tour sold to the ship by one of several Russian companies that have a legal right to host visa free tourists). However, the ship's only connection with the tour is taking 60-80% of the sale price as their commission.

Besides, you can get a Russian visa and be independent. In this case you will be able to book private tours with us, Ann and Alex. You will need to think about your visas in advance. Some of our clients have used evisa.com and were satisfied with the way it worked.

The second option is preferable if you like being independent, if you want to explore the city in a relaxed way or, on the contrary, want to visit more places than you can do with a big group, and, of course, if you want to see something that is not offered by the ship.

Q: We are coming to St.Petersburg for the first time. We would like to explore the most interesting places, but are undecided on what to do. Any recommendations?

A:The question is not easy to answer unless we know what exactly interests you. The city has so many options that appeal to such a variety of interests that finding time will be harder than finding activities.

As for the tours we would recommend you to do with us, you can see a full list on our excursions page www.GuideSpb.com/Excursion.php The "!" sign indicates the most popular tours, and we would suggest starting with them.

However, we are very flexible, and if you write us more about your specific interests and preferences, we will make an alternative program for you.

Q: Can Dollars or Euros be used in St. Petersburg for museum admission, camera fees, tips, store purchases, etc.? In what currency do I need to pay you?

A:In general, in Russia you cannot pay anything official with foreign currency. You can only use Roubles or credit cards in restaurants, supermarkets, shops, etc. In museums you can only pay in cash Roubles. The simplest way to get Roubles is using an ATM machine.

Dollars and Euros, however, are accepted in many souvenir shops and markets. And any currency is acceptable for tips.

As for our services, you can pay us in Dollars, Euros or Roubles.

Q: Do I actually need a car for my tours? Is St.Petersburg a walking city?

A:Unfortunately, our city cannot really be called a walking city, because its historic centre is very large. Of course, you can enjoy spending hours and hours walking around the main avenues and back streets, exploring various places, observing local people, etc., but if you are limited in time and would like to see the main sights in several hours, we would recommend you to use a car.
