The Menshikov palace, housed in one of the first stone buildings erected in St.Petersburg, belonged to Governor-general Alexander Menshikov, Peter the Great's favored adviser. This palace presents a picture of the life of the beginning of the 18^th century. Fragments of original interiors are combined with displays of many objects of both cultural and historical significance, among them famous Dutch tiles.
