St.Petersburg Subway

St. Petersburg's metro is some 105 km long and has 60 stations. Its first stations were opened in 1950-es. Some of the stations are decorated with granite, real and artificial marble, mosaics and crystal glass. Due to the geological difficulties during the construction of the metro (several underground rivers, the Gulf of Finland), which in fact caused a collapse of the tunnel between Pl.Muzhestva and Lesnaya, some stations have an interesting feature: the passenger platform is separated from the tracks by steel doors which open simultaneously with the doors of the arriving train. During the tour you will see 3-4 most beautiful stations: Pl.Vosstaniya, Vladimirskaya, Narvskaya, Avtovo.
